Legal & Rights
What you own once your film is delivered, what we ask of you before we start, and how the two of us are protected along the way.

Scope
This page summarises the legal terms that govern a MyStarDebut booking. It sits alongside, and does not replace, the specific booking agreement you sign when you reserve a slot — where the two differ, your signed booking agreement controls.
Ownership of Your Film
Once your final montage is delivered and paid in full, you receive a perpetual, exclusive licence to use it for personal, non-commercial purposes — screening it at your event, sharing it with family and friends, posting it on your own personal social media, and keeping it as a private archival copy.
Broadcast, resale, or commercial licensing of your film (for example, use in paid advertising or a ticketed public screening) is outside the standard personal-use licence — get in touch if you have a use case like this and we'll scope a commercial licence.
Consent for Every Subject
By submitting reference photos or footage of anyone, you confirm you have that person's consent for us to create a stylised cinematic likeness of them, and — for anyone other than yourself — that you are authorised to provide that consent on their behalf (for example, as the event organiser working from material they gave you). We do not knowingly accept material depicting anyone who has not consented to be part of the project.
Prohibited Uses
You may not use MyStarDebut to create content that is pornographic, defamatory, harassing, or intended to deceive a reasonable viewer into believing real, unaltered footage depicts events that did not occur. We reserve the right to decline or halt any project that falls into these categories, with any deposit refunded at our discretion.
Cinematic Style Homages
Several of our showcase genres — including period-drama, action- trailer and classic-cinema styles — are original stylistic interpretations inspired by well-known film aesthetics (lighting, wardrobe mood, colour grading, framing). They are affectionate homages created for private, personal celebration use, not reproductions of any copyrighted footage, script, or likeness of a professional actor.
MyStarDebut is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the studios, filmmakers, or rights holders of any film referenced by name or style in our marketing or genre names.
Studio Intellectual Property
Our production pipeline, proprietary blending techniques, editing templates, and this website's design and copy remain the intellectual property of MyStarDebut Ltd. Your licence to your own finished film does not extend to our underlying tools, templates, or process.
Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellation windows and refund percentages scale with how close to your event date you cancel, and are set out in full in your booking agreement at the time you reserve a slot. If production has already begun on your film, work completed to that point is non-refundable.
Your Statutory Cancellation Right
If you book as a consumer through this website, UK law (the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) generally gives you the right to cancel within 14 days of booking without giving a reason, for a full refund. This right sits above and beyond the sliding cancellation policy described above.
Because most bookings have an event date inside that 14-day window, we'll typically ask you to expressly confirm you'd like production to begin before the 14 days are up. If you give that confirmation, you acknowledge you lose the statutory cancellation right once work has started, and our standard cancellation policy above applies instead. If you don't give that confirmation, your full statutory right to cancel within 14 days stands.
Liability
We take venue and playback compatibility seriously (see our Master Quality Protocol), but our liability for any claim arising from a booking is limited to the amount you paid us for that booking. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including a venue's own equipment failure on the night.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute arising from a booking is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to These Terms
We may update this page from time to time to reflect changes to our process; the "Last Updated" date above always reflects the current version. Material changes affecting an active booking will be communicated to you directly rather than left to a page update alone.
